THE SHORT VERSION

Choose a coastal day or Gozo, rather than forcing both into day three.

Day one: give Valletta your attention

Start with a city walk and one preselected interior. St John’s Co-Cathedral is an option, with visiting arrangements published by the cathedral itself. Keep lunch and your afternoon route loose enough to accommodate queues, weather and the energy of your group.

End with a harbour view rather than another timed booking. Confirm your return journey before dinner, particularly if you are staying outside the city.

Day two: Mdina and Rabat

Spend the morning walking, then choose a focused cultural stop in Rabat. The Domvs Romana is an option for Roman archaeology. Check its current details with Heritage Malta and avoid building the route around old opening times.

This is also your chance to leave a spare hour. A longer lunch, café stop or change of route will make the day feel more like travel and less like a transport puzzle.

Day three: choose one direction

Choose Gozo if you want an island day and are comfortable planning the ferry and onward transport. Choose Comino if current access arrangements and sea conditions suit your party. Alternatively, stay on Malta and keep the final day simple.

This is a suggested sequence, not a packaged tour. Move days around to fit actual attraction openings, transport and weather. If you have a flight, protect a generous airport margin rather than adding an ambitious final excursion.

  • Reserve the attraction that matters most.
  • Check transport separately for each day.
  • Keep the final day adjustable.
